My week in phone calls to 0845 numbers:
(for non-Uk people, 0845 numbers tend to be customer service numbers which are charged at local rate no matter where they're routed to)

Monday: no sign of my ESA payment, called the Benefit Delivery Centre to find they didn't have my most recent medical certificate and therefore couldn't make the payment. I was to wait a day in case it was held up in the post and call back.

Tuesday: still no sign. Called BDC back and was advised to get a duplicate certificate from the doctor and call back on Wednesday.

Wednesday: Called BDC before the post arrived and was told the supervisor would call me back. Two hours later he does. I was in the shower at the time... Get told to hand in the duplicate certificate at Saltcoats Job Centre and they'd arrange a 'counter payment' a half hour later. I phone Sis and ask if I can borrow the train fare to get me into Saltcoats. Spend in total three hours sitting on the beach front whilst waiting for the Job Centre to get their act together. Get my payment, am confused that I recognise the girl behind the counter and it's not until I'm out of the building that I place her. She was at the convention. I'm sure of it - and if it is who I think it is, I had breakfast with her on the Sunday.

Thursday: No phone calls to make! Yay!

Friday: Have two letters advising that if I don't call them straight away, Scottish Gas will gain entry to my house and cut off my supplies of both gas and electricity for non-payment. I call to arrange for a pre-payment metre for the electricity to be installed and to pay off the debt via that method. First woman I speak to was wonderful, but I couldn't get a metre reading whilst on the phone so I had to call back once I got it. The guy I got on the second time was a dick. (I'm seriously considering putting in a complaint about him.) He flat out refused to help me unless I immediately paid off a good chunk of the bill. I told him I had no money and no method of paying him over the phone and he told me to take the giro slip and go to the post office. Then he pretty much hung up. I called back to arrange something for the gas and got the first woman I'd spoken to. She needed a gas metre reading this time and again, I couldn't get it while I was on the phone so she agreed to call me back. She did, I gave her the info, she arranged for someone to come out next Friday to fit the metre and then she sorted out the problem with the electricity in the same way.

So to Scottish Gas I have this to say: Gwen is a star and deserves a bonus. Joe? Should not be working on the phones in a debt recovery office. At least not without some serious customer service training under his belt.

Anyways - the point of this is this: I don't have a landline anymore (hence the no internet access) and therefore have to make these calls on my mobile phone. 0845 numbers are charged at full rate on mobiles. They also are not counted in the pre-arranged minutes I have on my contract so I'm charged extra for them. This week I have spent £6.76 on these calls.

Yikes.

(and also? Because my benefit payment was late, the direct debit for my phone bounced giving me a nearly £40 bank charge. And I got sunburn on my arms from sitting on the sea-front in Saltcoats).

All in? It's not been the best of weeks!

Oh - also meant to say, I do have more fanmixes in the offing. The one I want to post next is a Dean&Castiel (with overtones of Dean/Castiel) one, but there's currently a flood of 'em over at deancastiel so I'm gonna hang fire until it all calms down a little. Also? I haven't finalised the playlist on it and (as thedothatgirl can attest) it's a tad eclectic. (AC? You'll be glad to know I took your advice and took out the Wet Wet Wet song...

Hee... Have you heard 'I Megaphone by Imogen Heap'? Did I send it to you - track one any good for the above fanmix?

You did indeed send it to me - thank you so much! I've been meaning to say how much I love all the albums you've given me - but again with the whole psychic emailing thing...

Getting Scared is the first track isn't it? I actually added that to the Faith mix because it felt more right for her than for any of the others actually.

Ooo! Now that one would be a good one!

I'll take another listen this afternoon and see about adding it!

There's this line that made me think :

"Him for the way he looks like something drawn up from hell"
