computer help... again
So, sis has a laptop (which I'm currently typing this entry on) and it's coming up with error messages saying it's failed genuine Windows validation. She got it second hand from an IT guy who may or may not have installed it illegally.

My question is this, is there a way to fix it? And an additional question, I have the back up disks from my old computer which, obviously, is a genuine copy. Can I use *those* to re-install Windows XP from scratch?

Can you tel I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about?

I know this!

The error message is supremely annoying, but should not interfere with function. You should be able to install Windows XP from scratch, *or* she should have the option to go to the Microsoft website, pay the license fee and have her existing copy validated.
