life begins - me

(no subject)

Essay's done! and yes, it was posted on schedule for once! Yay me! Been kinda caught up doing random stuff lately so I've not really been writing which is annoying me now, the only thing I did write is something that I seriously doubt will ever see the light of day without some serious re-working going on and even then I still probably won't post it. UK Style played back-to-back episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition all weekend. Sunday morning? I wrote a little ficlet thing bringing the team to Sunnydale...

Today's pretty much the same as yesterday workwise. I've now finished everything I needed to do and there's no sign of any more work coming my way for the forseeable future. I was on the verge of calling in sick this morning, I really am feeling like crap. The antibiotics do seem to working though - the underlying chest infection seems to be going - or at least, the cough does - so hopefully everything else will go soon as well. Theoretically I guess after this week I should be the healthiest I've been in a long time. Should make up for me feeling like death warmed up right now.

Because I swithered over whether to phone in or not, I was late leaving the house, meaning I didn't eat breakfast, didn't bring breakfast with me, and forgot to lift my desk drawer keys. I'm now drinking my first coffee of the day out of a plastic throwaway water cup and listening to my stomach growling  as I try to figure out something else to do for the rest of the day.

On a random note, my passport ran out in 2001 and I never got round to renewing it after that so right now I can't actually leave the country. It's not bothered me too much, I've not had the time or the inclination to go anywhere in that time, right now though. I think I need a holiday. A proper, honest to goodness, holiday. I have 11 days annual leave left to take before October but at least two of those are earmarked for Prime in September (smileawhile - while I remember, have you heard anything yet?) So I'm going to renew my passport and take an actual holdiay. Any suggestions for where I should go?

ETA I *knew* there was something else I had to say - White Knight Awards voting closes on Friday and there are a lot of categories which are either tied at the moment or are one tiny vote away from being tied. If you haven't voted yet - please do it!
life begins - me

SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have my guitar!!!!

It arrived, it's gorgeous, and it's all mine!

I know - you're sitting there thinking WTF? Guitar?! I hadn't mentioned it 'cause I wanted to wait till it got here. Long story short, I used to play a very long time ago. Things got in the way, my guitar was given away to someone who could actually use it.

I missed it.

Ten years later, I missed it so much I got another. It's not the guitar I had since I was 14, the one my dad bought second hand for fifteen quid from the local newspaper for me to learn on, but it's mine. It's not tuned properly yet, because I can't find my tuning pipes (may have to get some more since it's so long since I've had any need for them!) but I tuned it by ear and it sounds so... rich.

I think I love my guitar!
