archive.org is a fantastic web resource which every library worth it's salt is linking to. We're not. So I take it to my boss (who's kinda nominally in charge of databases in certain respects) and say "here's this fantastic resource! Let's add it to the library site!"
She said no. That it's obviously been looked at and discounted in the past and that's why it's not on the site.
I said "maybe the SLs (Subject Librarians) haven't heard about it yet - did you know about i?"
She said no. But that didn't matter because it was doubtless too full of non-scholarly material to be added.
I sighed, walked out of the office, and am now waiting to see how long it takes before it gets added because she has found this wonderful new resource...
I need a new job.
