I really am an emo bitch sometimes aren't I? My mini-hiatus kinda lasted long enough to get a decent night's sleep and then pump myself full of caffeine and write a lot. Not as much as I wanted to, still have a huge hurdle to overcome, but at least I have most of the characters I need in place right now. Apart from the zombies. They're just being contrary.

I was on a roll yesterday and then realised I'd been awake for about 23 hours, forced myself to sleep (not easy after four pots of coffee) and now... have lost the groove a little. The radio is insisting on playing crap today (seriously, Cornershop followed by Oasis followed by Jarvis Cocker? What's next, Keane? Oh lookit that...) and my shuffle is being much more random than usual so I'm going from Louis Armstrong to Led Zeppelin to Beth Orton to Radiohead. I'm just being contrary. Hey, maybe I'm one of the zombies I'm avoiding writing...

Right, back to find out what Julian's been up to and finally get him to confront Anne-Marie... After this cup of coffee...

Almost forgot - I've been contemplating changing my LJ name (getting a rename token thingy). I'd like something non-fandom related I think, or at least non-specific fandom. Any suggestions?

How did you get involved with Buffy fandom? :)

Gosh where to start.Simple question long answer. Sorry to Mara_Sho for spamming her journal.:-)

Well back when Sky One in the UK first showed the series it was recommended to me by my then boss who like me was also watching the X-Files. I missed Welcome to the Hellmouth and Harvest and caught The Pack. Immediately was hooked and watched until Sky withdrew it due to poor ratings. I find that if I like the core characters I am always hooked. Loved the core 4 plus Cordy immediately.

Then the BBC picked it up and there was a big campaign to get Sky to resume showing it . They relented and then showed S2 and S3 through basically back to back, advertised the hell out of it and made it the centrepiece of their schedule along with the Simpsons for the next 5 years. Needless to say the quality of the writing plus the killing of Jenny turned me into a fan. Finally a show willing to twist and shock you.

Liked the black/white of the earlier seasons. TNG and Star Trek were always reforming their baddies and turning them into wusses. Really liked Giles' Cuthulu take on the nature of evil and the enemy.

I always watch every genre show at least for the first season to let it find its legs.So naturally I gave Buffy a go. Sometimes I wish I didn't First Watch ?

My recent foray into fanfic is prompted by the lack of any possibility of further shows currently and wanting to tell some stories for characters I thought were neglected in S7 and to find out whether I can write or just suck.:-)

So Buffy fandom seemed logical as the only other two shows I really love, X-Files and Blake's 7 seem to have little or no fandom left. Plus Buffy fandom has always seemed well read and intelligent and more diverse than other genre fandoms.

Spam away!

If you haven't seen it already, you should give Supernatural a go. I came to BtVS from being an X Phile and find that SPN manages to have the early-season XF creepiness and the BtVS comedy down pat. ITV2 have the rights to it but I don't think they've yet shown the full first season - the DVDs are available for rental though.
