Is there some weird kind of syzygy* going on in the constellations? There must be a reason for all the batshit fen coming out of the woodwork and being even more batshit insane than ever.

I fly under the radar for the most part in SPN fandom, I have no problem with this because if you know me at all you know exactly how I feel about BNFs and wannabe BNFs. But seriously, honey, either the email was paraphrased badly by you, it's a hoax or you made it up.

We all know that at least a couple of people involved in the production are aware not only of online fandom, but specifically of LiveJournal's subsect of online fandom. Why do I say this? Well, lemme see, there would be the whole thank you that those of us who contributed to spn_postcards received, there would be the thank yous the organisers of the various birthday projects have received, there would be the comments made to organisers expressing interest in fandom_rocks and the like. And there's the fact that we all know Kripke's on here somewhere.

The production office are 'au fait' with 'live journal', trust me on this.

I'm not saying that your community wouldn't be recognised, because it is one of the largest communities devoted to the show on LJ, but you are not 'influential' in this fandom. Let's be honest here, a lot of what you do is either illegal or at the very least bordering on the edges of copyright law. It's what the community is known for, it's why - up until this morning - I was a member although I have not posted there for months and it's been off my default view for a lot longer than that. The production company cannot be seen to be supporting the illegal distribution of copyrighted materials, and that my dear, is what your community does.

I fear you've been had, in which case I feel really sorry for you and hope you find whoever has targeted you thus.  I would rather think that - distressing as it may be - than think that you are making this all up in a bid to garner some of the attention that has been rightfully given to fandom_rocks which is after all a charitable exercise.

As I've said, I fly under the radar of this person - aside from a few graphics posts she's commented on we've had no contact. The reason I am not posting this to her community or to her personally is because of who I am friends with. This post is off my own back, no one else has asked me to post this or encouraged me to do so. I am not mentioning names because if this person has been tricked then I would like to save her further embarassment.

*who says TV is bad for the intelligence? I learned that word from watching the X Files. *nods* TV make my brain think good. (although apparently I can't spell...

Exactly, with file sharing there is a lot of turning a blind eye being done on the part of the production offices and studios because it usually leads to an increase in audience share (either domestically or internationally).

And hell, we (in the UK and Europe) are ensuring the show *has* an international market that way because we are building up the hype right up to the airing of the show in this country (and beyond).

Speaking of, I was watching the Bond film on ITV last night, was on the verge of falling asleep and missing the end of it, when an SPN trailer came on and I was wide awake again - that's kinda sad in a way! (Music on it was odd, it was Don't Fear the Reaper but it wasn't BOC, I need to try to find out who/what it was.)

Up until this morning I wasn't aware we had sides, but it looks like I'm with you on the wrong side as well... *grins*

It didn't seem incredibly techno but it was a higher tempt and the vocals were much higher pitched. For a second I thought a 33 was being played on 45 (god I'm showing my age there... at least I didn't say a 78!) but it's definitely the right speed for that version.

To be honest I was too busy suffering from head rush after jumping up on hearing Sam's voice. Yes, that's how close I was to sleeping when the ad came on...

Batshittery's terminal weakness is simple logic, it's just holding back the WTF?! reaction long enough to apply it that's my problem normally. *grins*

That's the thing about being the younger sibling, my sister had loads of 33s. Including the complete (and original) Jeff Wayne War of the Worlds thing which scared the crap out of me when I was six. (Not the music, the final painting in the book with the crows eating the Martian remains. *shudders*)

I'll keep an eye out for the trailer again and listen properly next time. It probably is the same one!

Hey there, found my way here via friends of friend of friends (I think, or maybe I'm just lost, lol) but couldn't help but pop up and say a) Amen to all of the above post and b) The track on the ITV2 SPN trailer is Apollo Four Forty's version of DFTR. Hope this helps!
