And now for something completely different:
Finally! (coke) The meme that the lovely purplephoenix03 tagged me for days ago!

List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

 House Rules - Kane
I was at one of my lowest ebbs when this song was made available on the band's MySpace page. A friend ripped the MP3 and sent me it and I spent the entire afternoon at work listening to it on a loop in one earphone. I got reprimanded for having my headphones on and therefore not being approachable (since I'm a supervisor it probably does matter) but I didn't care at all. Yes, this song is unashamedly country rock n roll, yes it's a li'l bit cheesy, but damn if it doesn't still make me grin every single time I hear it. Welcome to my house, buckle up tight...

Running To A Stand Still - U2
I've been a U2 fan since the mid-80s when I was first introduced to their music by my music teacher at school. I immediately got ahold of their back catalogue and for the longest time couldn't actually get to sleep unless I'd heard at least one U2 song in that day. (Yeah, my weird slightly OCD ways were probably quite noticeable then, if only I'd thought about them!) I have three favourite U2 songs. Bullet the Blue Sky - the song that first made me a fan; Mothers of the Disappeared - the song that appealed to the political idealist in me; and Running to a Stand Still. For the longest time there was nothing to make me pick one favourite from those, but then...

Steve sang Running to a Stand Still at the Half Moon gig in Putney. And at the Barfly in Camden later that week he played it again, for me. And blanked on the lyrics and asked me what they were. So now, guess what my favourite is? This is the U2 original because it is still awesome even though it's not Steve... She is raging, she is raging, and a storm blows up in her eyes...

Living's A Problem (Because Everything Dies) - Biffy Clyro

Mon the Biffy! This band are local to me, have been around for a few years now, and are *this* close to hitting the big time. This particular song is one I'm listening to a lot at the moment because I have a vid bunny plot for it. I've also used the lyrics in a graphics present I made for starhawk2005's wedding. I absolutely adore the unpredictability of the music in here, even though I've heard it hundreds of times it still catches me unawares. I fear God because everything dies babe, Got a gun in the back of my car, A spasm of good sense is making my eye twitch, I've had enough of all your consolation

Journey - Jason Manns

Oh Jason! Even though you claim your sense of rhythm is crap, we love you anyway. This is my own personal favourite song of his (and I was one of those who lead the cheers at Asylum which prompted you to say "Wow, didn't expect that reaction..." - you should have, it's a damn good song!) Armed with our guitars and armed with emotional scars, our journeys are under way...

Hundred Mile High City - Ocean Colour Scene

The guitars in this song are a thing of beauty. The lyrical content isn't particularly inspiring but when you get guitars sounding like this - who cares? (And what made you think this is the soundtrack to Paths Crossed, huh? *g*) So I said I'm on the roam and I need a car, and I know that I'm getting alive, and I say I got Faith and a season, and I say that's where I'm going to...

Another Way - Jeff Fiorello

Oh, Fio! Just... I don't know what else to say other than go buy this man's album. I take the time, though I find it is rough sometimes

Pinata Novia - Steve Carlson

This is the Spot in the Corner version because I have some issues with the reworking of it that appeared on Groovin' on the Inside. This is a wonderfully intricate little song that manages to mellow me out and make me smile every time I hear it.like an hourglass, my heart fills up, but I’m losing my mind over you

So now for the tagging thing... how about amy_star_, wenchpixie, acme54, acrazywench, booster17, invisionary, and geminilove_ca (because what better way to get to know you?)

And... I was going to title this post "Finding Nemo" but... has anyone heard from naol lately? nemo_gravisNemo? Dude? Hope you're okay, let us know?

the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: primeval //gonna die - mewhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 09:36 am (UTC)
*frowns*

Hmmm. The only email I have for him is the one attached to his LJ so he might not be checking it. I really hope everything's okay with him!
x5valex5vale on August 9th, 2007 10:29 am (UTC)
Running to stand still is maybe my fave U2 song along with October.

And I've been a fan for more than 20 years as well.

*hugs*

Oh! October... *shivers up my spine*

The piano in that song is just gorgeous!

(At the first gig when Steve started singing Running... I had to hand off the camera to kitty_cat89 because I was shaking so much!)
x5valex5vale on August 9th, 2007 12:57 pm (UTC)
I know...*loves the piano*

Oh man..Steve singing Running...*thud*

I'm really hoping it'll be on the CD Steve said they were making of the first gig (actually, it would rock if I could get a decent quality recording of the second gig when he stopped and asked me for the lyrics!)
x5valex5vale on August 9th, 2007 02:30 pm (UTC)
I'd love to have both ;)
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: music//steve carlson/iry video - mewhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 02:37 pm (UTC)
Oh yes! That would be all kinds of awesome!
Oh Castiel!smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 01:38 pm (UTC)
I wanted to put the coke thing into the crack fic but my beta said that was maybe diving a little too far into insane and unreadable by anyone other than those who came up with it :P

Ah House Rules, how I love thee
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: music//kane cheers - mewhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 02:01 pm (UTC)
LOL!!!

And the sponges aren't?!

*snorts*

House Rules FTW!
Oh Castiel!: magic-cocksmeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 02:04 pm (UTC)
No no no, the sponges make PERFECT sense. It's a really understandable fear, once the fic explains it *nods*
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: spn//adrianne laugh - mewhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 02:06 pm (UTC)
So when are we getting to see it anyway? Huh? Huh?

*grins*
Oh Castiel!smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 02:10 pm (UTC)
I actually got it back from my beta this morning, and was going to post it tonight. I don't want it to get swallowed up in all the wank though, so maybe tomorrow night?
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: spn//jdm rock on - tinamishiwhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 02:18 pm (UTC)
*whimpers a little*

It makes sense to post it tomorrow night for the exact reasons you mentioned so I'd say go for tomorrow.

The reason I'm whimpering is 'cause I'm still offline and won't get to read it till Monday now...
Oh Castiel!smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 02:22 pm (UTC)
*peers around to ensure no one else is looking* I can send you it now if you like, I feel bad that my choice of day makes you whimper
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: text//DUDE!!!! - wenchpixiewhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 02:24 pm (UTC)
Oooo! Could you? My gmail name is faith.misplaced and I would love you even more than I already do! (And I can give you the heads up that the student computers in the library are being switched over to fancy flat screens right now which kinda rock)
Oh Castiel!: *grins*smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 02:31 pm (UTC)
*whispers* done

Awesome! Oh I do love flat screens, they look so snazzy!
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: spn//dean for the win - seewhoiamwhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 02:36 pm (UTC)
*squee!*

*huggles*

Of course, us lowly staff still have clunky old gigantor monitors and *really* slow hard drives, but hey... so long as the students get the top of the range stuff... J/K!
Oh Castiel!smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 02:45 pm (UTC)
*huggles back*

Haha, why of course, what else did you expect? :P

I'm thoroughly amused by the link you left in that last post by the way
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: text//jensen's magic cock - smeckles90whiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 03:11 pm (UTC)
Bah humbug. Students, if it weren't for them this place would run like clockwork...

You, my dear, are on some serious crack. I started reading and had to stop because I couldn't stop the laughter. I shall read at home and email you in the morning.

And that link - as soon as I saw it I just couldn't stop giggling! It's so apt!
Oh Castiel!smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 03:27 pm (UTC)
*snorts* yes, we're definetly the problem instead of the point

We came up with the ideas, and then the crack just kinda ran with it lol :D good idea, I don't want you blaming me for getting fired again *g*

To be perfectly honest, I'm finding this whole thing hysterical because I wasn't involved in it in the first place. Though I've been defriended despite not posting one comment until I discovered that. GOD I'm talented!
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: asylum//front row brain/justin - purplepwhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 03:45 pm (UTC)
Dude - no way! The point of the library is entirely to give me someplace relatively warm and dry to read LJ from! And also to give me access to interesting journals like Folklore which kinda rocks for research on SPN fic...

I still feel kinda bad because even though I'm under the radar, I brought the whole thing to the attention of a lot of people who are now being embroiled in it.

Dude - you've got like a sooper speshul talent!
Oh Castiel!smeckles90 on August 9th, 2007 03:52 pm (UTC)
OF COURSE! Damn, why haven't we silly students every got that before?! Man, what are they teaching us these days?!

But then I blame the main person involved for calling us them. Really, she brought them into it by using such a broad term, not you. I blame Karyn for involving me, not that I've really commented on the front lines or anything. I'm just a little pissed that I got defriended during it when I hadn't even said anything. Apparently she's got a list of all the people who have been insulting her on her LJ and I'm interested to see if I'm on it. Not that that's anything compared to what happened to Ash, that made me livid when I read about that!

You better believe it, watch out fandom! I bring my own uber-secret and uber-invisible wank. Put your fingers on your defriend buttons now, or risk the consequences!

Have you seen the new-old pictures of the boys? They're awful pretty and totally aid my Jared's-proportional-everywhere theory
the girl who used to dance on fire and brimstone: Pratchett//redo from start - wildecatewhiskyinmind on August 9th, 2007 03:59 pm (UTC)
I know, I mean you'd think they'd get it what with the whole "No I will not fix your computer" t-shirt I wear in here and the fact that I keep *forgetting* my phone's forwarded... Gives me time to appreciate the finer things in life. *nods*

She did seem to go on the defensive straight away and she seems to have been the one making sides.

I'm rushing, I'm leaving work now - will talk properly (if the crack hasn't killed me - tomorrow!
technopagan hippie chickgeminilove_ca on August 9th, 2007 04:13 pm (UTC)
Okay, posted my own. No links to songs as I'm at work.. shhhh..... he he

I've seen House Rules live... and well, huh.... Rule Number Seven went over VERY well when Chris grabbed the package. *turns pink*
