If you didn't catch Sherlock last night on BBC1, then you missed a helluva show.

Do whatever you can to catch it.

It really is the best thing I've seen on television for a long time.

I really liked Sherlock Holmes thought he was excellent, Watson grew on me through the show...I was less sold on the plot/story but definitely worth watching again.

I quite liked Watson from the start, there did seem to be a lot of waste going on with him, but remembering how bumblingly inept he used to be portrayed (haven't seen the recent film yet so I don't know how he's characterised in that) I thought this was actually quite a clever way to acknowledge that and move past it. He'll be a stronger character in the next two eps I think.

I did kinda feel there was ten minutes or so where it lagged into mediocrity (around the 1 hour mark) but it picked up again for me.

The one-liners were so sharp but not obviously forced and I can't wait to see if that standard can be kept up over the next three hours.
